Cantamus is a choir of about 24 able singers. Our repertoire is almost entirely unaccompanied, in anything from 4 to 10 parts. It ranges from English and European madrigals to music from the 21st century; from the challenging to the disarmingly simple, and from the deepest tingle-factor to the utterly frivolous.
Cantamus was founded in 1997 by Richard Emms and has been delighting audiences ever since. We perform for music societies, for charitable and private events in the South Midlands and the North Cotswolds. Often our programmes are in collaboration with Anne Hume, a professional actor who provides witty and apposite readings interspersed among the music.
Cantamus is also in demand for its liturgical performances of masses by Byrd, Palestrina and Victoria.
“Everyone who came was so appreciative of it all, and continue to speak enthusiastically of your nurtured talents brought to perfection.”
